Phone Scam Asking For Donations

Posted: Updated:

BELGRADE - Another phone scam is happening the Gallatin Valley. The caller is claiming to be a representative of the Belgrade Police Department asking for donations for the Police Department.

Police said if they were ever raising money for charitable organizations, they would not do so over the phone.

The Belgrade Police Department would like to remind residents to be careful if you receive a call from solicitors and to not give any personal information over the phone.

This is the second phone scam in a week. Last week, a scammer was calling residents in the Gallatin Valley posing as the Sheriff telling residents they won a cash prize from Publisher's Clearing House.

If you receive one of these calls, call the Belgrade Police at 388-4262.
