Community Walk for Homeless Veterans

KALISPELL - Community members walked to raise money for homeless veterans

Community members and veterans walked or ran down North Meridian Street in the third annual VA 2K event. During the event they donated non-perishable food items, clothing, bus passes and even pre-paid phone cards. Veteran Chuck Bright said the event not only helps him but other veterans who struggle on a daily basis.

"Every little bit helps, do these drives more than once a year. Do them once a month, do them once a week, as far as I 'am concerned. I got fortunate I've recovered from it and I wouldn't be here where I am without the VA's help,"  Bright said.

Last year more than 22,000 people participated in the event that occurs nationwide and collected more than 240,000 donated goods.
