Boy Held on $500K Bond Moved to Mental Health Facility

ST. IGNATIUS -

A 10-year-old St. Ignatius boy -- who was being held on $500,000 bail in Lake County -- is now receiving treatment at a mental health facility in Butte.

Lake County District Judge Kim Christopher released Isaiah Nasewytewa from a juvenile detention center Thursday.

The boy's grandmother and current guardian, said her grandson began acting out last year after his parents divorced.

She said he was arrested for burglary and theft last year, and violated his parole this year when he broke into the St. Ignatius Elementary School.

"And as a grandmother, to this day, right now, it would make me be so happy, it'd make me so happy, if he was sitting right here by me, sitting right here by me like my other grand kids here," said Dorinda Buck, Nasewytewa's grandmother.

Prosecutors said the boy missed three previously scheduled psychiatric evaluations.

The judge set the boy's bail at $500,000 last month in hopes bail wouldn't be posted until the evaluation was completed.
