BUTTE -

Saturday is the national "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive" and folks in Butte will be participating in the annual event.

Saturday postal service workers will be collecting non-perishable food items at Butte residences.

Residents should just put any food they would like to donate in a box next to their mailbox.

The postal service employees will come by and pick up the food for the Butte Emergency Food Bank.

The food bank said the plan to collect a lot of food.

"Approximately 34,000 pounds," said Bob O'Bill from the Butte Emergency Food Bank. "Some years are a little higher than others, and some are a little lower. It seems like every year we have increased."

The "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive" will go throughout the day.
