A University of Montana student was recovering in a Seattle hospital Wednesday night, after being hit by a car while walking in the University District.
It happened about 8 p.m. Tuesday on Arthur and Daly Avenues.
Missoula Police said the driver was focused on a crowd of people while making a turn, and didn't see the pedestrian walking in the cross walk.
The driver was cited for failing to yield right of way for a pedestrian in the cross walk.
According to family, the victim is doing good and will undergo pelvic surgery on Friday.
Statistics from the Montana Highway Patrol show crashes involving pedestrians in 2012 increased 300% from last year.
