Missoula Aviation Company Loses USFS Contract

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA- The U.S. Forest Service announced that they will not be renewing a contract with a Missoula-based aviation company to add new and improved planes to its fire response fleet.

The long-anticipated contracts totaling $158 million were handed out to companies on Monday.

Neptune Aviation, which has built planes for the forest service in the past, did not receive a new contract.

The contracts will add seven new planes that fly faster and drop bigger payloads of fire retardant than in years past.
