Posted: Updated:

KALISPELL - The Kalispell City Council will discuss applying for a federal grant to develop a rail park in Kalispell.

Council members along with Flathead County Economic Development Authority will apply for a $10 million federal grant. The grant will be use to develop an Industrial Rail Park that will provide an easy access to load and unload rail carts.

The project will be funded through an organization called the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery Grant Program.

"I think FCDEA looks at it as a definite economic development project in terms of being able to provide more opportunities or a rail service here in the region , so I think it will be a great development to see  and I am very happy to see the partnership with FCDEA,"  Kalispell City Manager Doug Russell said.

The meeting will take place Monday at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Chambers on 1st Avenue East in Kalispell.
