Butte Police Using Additional Patrols For "Click It or Ticket"

Posted: Updated:

The Butte-Silver Bow County Law Enforcement Department will be using additional traffic patrols on the roads starting May 20th.

The county police department is joining the national "Click It or Ticket" seatbelt enforcement campaign.

Officers will be enforcing seat belt laws while also making sure drivers obey all traffic laws.

They will also be making sure children are fastened in cars appropriately.

"Nobody has time to plan for being in an accident," said Silver Bow County Sheriff Ed Lester. "So the safest thing you can do to make your trip more safe is to buckle the seat belt when you get in and make sure everybody is buckled in safely. Believe me I've been in a couple accidents, and by the time you realize you're going to be in an accident, it's to late to start worrying about buckling up."

Additional officers will be used starting May 20th.

The campaign will go through June 2nd.
