KALISPELL - The Kalispell School District will sponsor a summer food program for area youth to encourage healthy eating.
The summer food service program is a U.S. Department of Agriculture Child Nutrition Program. The program provides free nutritious meals to children under 19 when school is not in session.
"With the meal everyday there's a grain a protein a fruit a vegetable and milk, so students don't have to take every component of the meal but it provides an opportunity to have a well rounded meal and they are required to take a fruit or vegetable," Food Service Director Jennifer Montague said.
The program will run from June 10th to August 3rd. Breakfast and lunch will be distributed at Elrod Elementary School and Woodland Park from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
