"Team Butte" announced Wednesday it is putting together a project that will focus on revitalizing Butte's historic Uptown area.
In front of Butte's business owners, representatives from "Team Butte" announced Wednesday they are starting a project that will focus on Butte's future, starting with its core.
"Action 2020 is a result of a consolidation of eleven studies that have been done on Uptown Butte," said committee chairman, Ron Ueland. "Out of those eleven studies, we came up with seven issues that need to be addressed. What we want to do is address those issues to develop the best town we can by the year 2020."
"Action 2020" will focus on revitalizing, repairing, and reclaiming the historic Uptown Butte.
The project will have seven task forces, with each one to address one of the seven issues found in past studies of Uptown Butte.
"Now we're asking anybody who wants to get involved in those individual committees," Ueland said. "If they feel strongly about marketing of Uptown Butte, they can get in that committee. If they want to get involved in the financial tools of Uptown Butte, they can get in that committee."
The committees will develop action items to solve their issue. Representatives say if "Action 2020" is successful, Butte can see some major changes.
"That we have the best Uptown Butte that will draw people, that people will enjoy the environment, the arts, the culture, the nightlife," said Ron Ueland. "Residents will have an enjoyable lifestyle up there. Corporate headquarters, law firms, accounting firms, they can all coexist, and it can be that real unique town in Montana."
"Action 2020" committee members say they hope to complete the project by the year 2020.
