Law Enforcement Runs for Special Olympics

Posted: Updated:

KALISPELL -  Members of Flathead County law enforcement are getting ready to lace up their tennis shoes in anticipation of the Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics State Games.

For their leg, members of the Kalispell Police Department will run 52 miles.

Officers will bike and jog from Les Schwab Tire Center, continue through Main Street, and conclude at Lions Park. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the State Special Olympics.

"It's fun because we get to support people in our communities that are disadvantaged with an actual disability, and it's really an opportunity to law enforcement officers to go out and meet some of the disadvantage people in our community,"  Officer Jason Parce said.

The event will begin Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Happy's Inn on Highway 2 West in Kalispell.
A barbeque will follow at Lions Park.
