DOE Reduces Hanford Furlough Time for 1,800 Employees

Posted: Updated:

The Department of Energy is reducing the furlough time for 1,800 Hanford employees.

The announcement was made in a letter to employees this week.

Furloughs brought on by the government's sequestration cuts placed many workers on leave and laid off others.

But the recent approval of the 2013 budget gave DOE a better idea of how to manage the cuts to the department.

Reducing the furlough time for the workers will cost 5-6 million dollars.

But the cut back on furlough time will let employees from many different offices continue cleanup work
