Hanford Tours to Continue as Planned Despite Sequestration

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - Sequestration may be cutting government budgets across the board but so far, Hanford tour officials say tours should not be affected. Mission Support Alliance says the Hanford site tours will start next week as planned.

However MSA, who runs the tours for the Department of Energy. says there is a chance the tours could be canceled at some point during the season.

MSA says they are doing what they can to minimize the financial impacts caused by sequestration at Hanford

"Tour season is beginning as planned next week for the site tours. Given the current budget cuts, we are assessing the situation to determine if we can execute the full season, but right now we have no cut backs planned,"

Weil says if they had to cut back Hanford's B-Reactor tours would not be affected, only the site tours. For now, all tours will go on as planned.
